JimJimBear had sent me this fantastic collage of one of the big bearish fighters in The Big Brawl (also titled Battle Creek Brawl). Thank you, Jim!

Keep a lookout for H.B. Haggerty, Ox Baker, and other classic woofy bears…

He wasn’t quite sure who he was, so I accessed the “Bearish Men Database” (BMDb) in my brain and knew right away that it was Steve Merjanian.  I pride myself with such knowledge as IMDb does not even have him listed in that film.  Lol.  Anyway, some of the other movies this big musclebear celebrity appeared in are Muscle Beach Party and The Strongest Man In The World.  Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find my DVD of The  Strongest Man In The World nor can I find Mr. Merjanian’s video clip from that movie on YouTube (I know it’s in there as it’s just not labeled correctly)…

And here are more photos of Steve Merjanian.  The first one is from one of the best blog titles ever, The Tight Tan Slacks Of Dezso Ban.

Are you sure he’s in The Strongest Man In The World? imdb has a huge cast list for that, and he’s not on it.

Also, do you know what movie that last photo is from?

I got my first muscle mag, the Aug ’65 issue of Muscular Developement, which had an article on Steve Merjanian. As a 14 yr old who had just gotten a barbell set th previous Christmas, I was awed and inspired by his massive physique and the monstrous weights, especially dumbbels, he was pictured lifting.

Steve was awesome. I discovered him on an episode of Lost In Space recently and have admired him ever since. What a physique.
